Acknowledgment of 40-Hour D-License Curriculum Requirement

By enrolling in our course, you understand that the DVPSTA D-License curriculum is a mandatory 40-hour program as required by the State of Florida. While individual narrations or slide content may be shorter in duration, you acknowledge that you must remain actively engaged on the platform for a minimum of 40 hours in order for the system to register completion. This time requirement is necessary to ensure eligibility for issuance of the Certificate of Completion and for subsequent approval by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS).

Exceptions:

If you are a currently employed law enforcement officer, correctional officer or correctional probation officer certified by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement's Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission, a copy of your valid ID card issued by your employing law enforcement agency is sufficient to satisfy the training requirement.

If
you have successfully completed a training program approved by the Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission for certification as a law enforcement officer, correctional officer or correctional probation officer, a copy of your certificate of completion is sufficient to satisfy the training requirement.

If
you qualify for a Class “DI” security officer instructor license under Rule 5N-1.138(1)(e)-(g), Florida Administrative Code, proof of such qualification is sufficient to satisfy the training requirement.

If
you received relevant military training or education during service in the United States Armed Forces, proof of such training or education is sufficient to satisfy the training requirement.

Note: If you completed a 40-hour security officer training course provided by a licensed Class "DS" security officer school or training facility on or after July 19, 2023, please look up and print a copy of your training certificate to submit with your application.

MOST POPULAR QUESTIONS ABOUT THE D-LICENSE COURSE

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is the DVPSTA D-License course 100% Online? Do I have to attend any classes?

Yes – this course is 100% online!
Complete it at your own pace, on your own schedule, within 6 weeks. There are no required class meetings and no need to attend in‑person sessions.

Unlike many training schools with fixed schedules, we understand that our students often have full‑time jobs or other commitments. That’s why we’ve designed our courses to fit seamlessly into busy lifestyles.

Is the D-License Online Course regulated by FDACS (The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services)?

Yes, our DVPSTA Class “D” and Class “G” Security Officer courses fully meet all Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) standards. We are closely monitored to ensure our programs comply with all credentialing requirements. Upon successful completion of your course, we are required to submit your training information—including your full name, date of birth, and completion date—to FDACS. This information is used to issue your official FDACS Certificate of Security Officer Training, which you will then physically submit when applying for your security officer license.

Which certificate do I turn into the FDACS processing facility?

You will receive two certificates for this course:

  1. Certificate of Completion – Provided immediately upon finishing the course, this certificate recognizes your accomplishment.

  2. Official FDACS Certificate of Security Officer Training – This is the certificate you will submit to FDACS when applying for your license.

Within 7 business days of completing your D‑License course, you will receive an email containing:

  • Your Official Certificate of Security Officer Training

  • The D‑License Application

  • Information on the associated fees for D‑License processing

Do I have to submit fingerprints to FDACS for processing my D-License?

Yes — for a Class D security officer license issued by FDACS in Florida, you are required to submit fingerprints. This is a mandatory part of the background check process for private security licensing. This will occur on the day of your appointment, in addition to your pictures.

Can I take the G-License course IMMEDIATELY after the D-License course?

Yes! You can absolutely take the G-License course after completing the D-License course—in fact, that’s the required order.
Just make sure you finish and submit your D-License training information first before we process your G-License paperwork.

Also, please remember that the G-License has a mandatory in-person firearms training component. This must be completed with a certified firearms instructor in Florida before your G-License training can be fully processed. We offer the in-person component for students in Miami, Doral, and Broward with our CEO, Darwin Villavicencio.

What is the fastest way to complete the D-License curriculum?

Our course is 100% fully online! Once you sign up, you’ll be prompted to submit your identification card, and you can begin right away. Whether you have a full‑time job or are still in school, you can complete the course at your own pace and on your own schedule.

Please note: FDACS requires a 40‑hour curriculum. All course slides are preset with a minimum viewing time (approximately 4 minutes per slide) to ensure compliance with this requirement. Technically, you could complete the course in as little as 40 hours if you study straight through without breaks, though most students prefer to spread the hours over several days or weeks.

I do not live in Florida, can I still enroll in the D-License course?

Yes! We have had many students across the United States — including Texas, New York, and Chicago — successfully complete our 100% online D‑License course.

However, FDACS requires that you complete the license application process in person at one of their Florida regional offices. This means you must travel to Florida to submit your application, fingerprints, and required documents.
