FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is the DVPSTA D-License course 100% Online? Do I have to attend any classes?

For applicants seeking an initial Florida Class "D" Security Officer License, Florida Administrative Code Rule 5N-1.140(1)(f)1.-13. requires that online classroom instruction include live instruction provided by one or more licensed Class "DI" instructors. The instructor and students must participate together in a real-time (simultaneous) online classroom environment. DVPSTA's Class "D" Security Officer Training Course is designed to comply with all Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) requirements. Our program combines online learning with live instructor-led instruction to ensure students receive the training necessary to qualify for licensure.

At DVPSTA, we understand that your time is valuable. That’s why our accelerated re-designed two-week training program is designed to help you complete your required 40-hour course quickly—without sacrificing quality or effectiveness.

If you have any questions regarding the course format or upcoming class schedules, please contact us. We will be happy to assist you. Please email our administration via GIU@DVPSTA.com

Is the D-License Online Course regulated by FDACS (The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services)?

Yes, our DVPSTA Class “D” and Class “G” Security Officer courses fully meet all Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) standards. We are closely monitored to ensure our programs comply with all credentialing requirements. Upon successful completion of your course, we are required to submit your training information—including your full name, date of birth, and completion date—to FDACS. This information is used to issue your official FDACS Certificate of Security Officer Training, which you will then physically submit when applying for your security officer license.

Why Does DVPSTA Require Photo Identification at Sign-Up?

Per F.A.C. (Florida Administrative Code) 5n-1.132(5)-(m), all sign-up requests are required by DVPSTA and Florida law to upload valid photo identification to continue. If prompted, please upload as soon as convenient. If no identification is uploaded, your sign-up request will be denied by the DVPSTA Administration.

In addition, Licenses "D" and "G" are required by Florida Statutes to require a photo identification every time before entering the course.

Do I have to submit my ID every time I log in, even though I submitted it during the initial qualification?

Yes. Under Florida online security training guidelines, identity verification and attendance monitoring are required throughout the course to ensure the registered student is the person actively participating in training. Florida law requires licensed schools and instructors to verify the applicant’s identity, attendance, and course participation for online Class “D” and Class “G” training.

For compliance purposes, DVPSTA may require photo identification verification during logins or at various points throughout the course session. This helps maintain compliance with Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) regulations and protects the integrity of state-required training records.

When will I receive the Certificate of Security Officer Training (Form FDACS-16103)?

Within 3 business days of completing your D‑License course, you will receive an email containing:

  • Your Official Certificate of Security Officer Training

  • The D‑License Application

  • Information on the associated fees for D‑License processing

Do I have to submit fingerprints to FDACS for processing my D-License?

Yes — for a Class D security officer license issued by FDACS in Florida, you are required to submit fingerprints. This is a mandatory part of the background check process for private security licensing. This will occur on the day of your appointment, in addition to your pictures.

I do not live in Florida, can I still enroll in the D-License course?

Yes! We have had many students across the United States — including Texas, New York, and Chicago — successfully complete our 100% online D‑License course with a Live Instructor.

However, FDACS allows you to apply by mail, in-person, or online to one of their Florida regional offices. This means you must travel to Florida to submit your application, fingerprints, and required documents.

As a woman with no prior experience in security or firearms, I was nervous at first, but Darwin made the entire training experience amazing. He was patient, supportive, and explained everything clearly, making me feel comfortable and confident every step of the way. The security, firearm, and concealed carry courses were thorough and focused on safety and real-world skills. Thanks to Darwin’s expert guidance, I now feel empowered and well-prepared to pursue my security license and handle a firearm responsibly. I highly recommend Darwin as an instructor to anyone, especially beginners like me.
