This premier training bundle includes both the Class D and Class G Security Officer courses. By Florida law, the D-License curriculum must be completed first before enrolling in the G-License course.

Class D License Training

STEP #2: G-LICENSE
The G-License training consists of two phases:

Phase A: Online 20-curriculum coursework.

Phase B: Mandatory 8-hour in-person firearms training, as required by Florida Statutes.
For students located in Miami, Broward, or Fort Lauderdale, our lead instructor, Darwin, is available to provide Phase B training directly.
If you are located outside Florida or in an area we do not currently serve, you may work with a licensed K-License instructor in your region. Once you provide us their information, we will coordinate with them to ensure your training meets all state requirements.

What does the D & G License Bundle include?
The bundle includes both the Florida Class D Unarmed Security Officer License (40-hour course) and the Class G Statewide Firearms License (28-hour course: 20 hours online + 8 hours in-person firearms training*).
*8 hours in-person firearms training is included if you live in the Miami, Doral, Hialeah area. Otherwise, students must find their own K-License instructor, forward their information to DVPSTA, and we will work together accordingly. Please let us know if this case applies to you.

Do I have to take the D-License before the G-License?
Yes. Florida law requires you to complete the D-License training first before you can begin the G-License training. FDACS will not allow you to apply for the G-License without the D-License.

How long does it take to complete both licenses?
D-License: 40 hours (can be completed fully online, self-paced) within 3 to 4 days.
G-License: 20 hours online + 8 hours mandatory in-person firearms training.
Most students complete both licenses in about one week, depending on scheduling for the firearms training. If you are enrolled in Miami, Doral, Hialeah, we provide the in-person firearms component (phase B) on the 2nd and 4th weekend of the month. Is the training online or in-person?
D-License: 100% online.
G-License: Online coursework (20 hours) + 8-hour in-person firearms training with a certified instructor. Darwin Villavicencio is a certified K-License instructor who is able to offer this service for students who are in the Miami, Doral, Hialeah area. We have students outside of these areas complete the G-license curriculum with DVPSTA, and will find their own K-License instructor that is closest to them as well. If this is the case, please email our support team at giu@dvpsta.com so we can coordinate with them for your certification.
Where is the in-person firearms training held?
We provide in-person training in Miami and Doral with our lead instructor. If you live outside these areas, you may train with a local K-License certified instructor, and we will coordinate to ensure your training meets FDACS requirements.

Do I need to own a firearm to take the G-License course?
No. A firearm is provided for the training. However, you must pass the firearms proficiency portion of the course to qualify for the G-License.
How much money can I save with the bundle?
The bundle saves you $30 compared to purchasing each license separately. It’s the most affordable way to complete both requirements. However, for whatever reason, if you must take one course a time, if you provide us a "5-star" google review (search DVPSTA on Google), we will provide you a 10% promotional code towards your next course.
How soon can I start working after completing the bundle?
Once you finish the courses and submit your applications to FDACS (Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services) with fingerprints and fees, you may start working once your licenses are officially issued.
What jobs can I apply for with both licenses?
D-License only: Unarmed security positions.
D + G License: Armed security officer positions (higher pay, more opportunities, statewide eligibility).
Can I take the courses if I don’t live in Florida?
Yes. You can take the courses from anywhere, but you must still submit your application to FDACS (Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services). FDACS is able to process out-of-state applicants using their online portal and fingerprint submission system. However, keep in mind that these licenses are only valid for working as a security officer in Florida.
